The millennials, that's a
group I fall under. You might think of your nerds or even full on computer
nerds or even class clowns when describing a group that someone belongs to but
in this case I belong in the millennials according to the outside world. There
are about 80 million of us and we range from being born in the early 1980's to
the early 2000's. Most of us know how to work a computer or phone very well and
most of us are very engaged with social media, something that was introduced to
the world during our time. It's a new way of keeping in touch with friends and
loved ones, sharing pictures and commenting within seconds or even asking about
the rest of your friends and setting up gatherings. Technology will always be
tied to the way we ran the world during this period.
We almost have our priorities set, we
know what we want and know what to work around. Even to the way we set our work
and lifestyle. Most of us would rather work around our outside life or stay
more focused on things other than the agenda of the company. These companies
are taking notice too and some are even adjusting to the wants and needs of the
new generation. Lot’s of jobs are not even taken up as offered, there’s lots of
preferences and not much command from our parents or peers to do better. It’s
almost as if we are too lazy and with the rapid growth of college debt it is
apparent that we are now starting to realize that education is important.
There’s lots of hope and promise for us to show that the tools we are given can
be used for good and I have hope that we will be recognized as a generation
that changed the world for the better.
